Capturing Cards from Other Apps
When you’re reading something on the web, watching a video, or chatting with someone and you spot a fact worth remembering, you don’t have to switch into Fresh Cards to capture it. This section covers all the ways to add a single card (or a few) from outside the app.
For importing many cards at once from a file, see Importing Cards.
This page is still being written. The outline below shows what’s planned — the full content will land in an upcoming Help update.
This section will cover:
- Share Extension (iOS & Mac) — sending selected text or a webpage from another app into Fresh Cards as a new card; picking a destination deck.
- Shortcuts & Siri (iOS) — using the “Add a card to [deck]” intent in Shortcuts and by voice.
- App Intents on Mac — the same intents available in the Shortcuts app on macOS.
- Action Button (iPhone 15 Pro and later) — mapping the Action Button to one-press card capture.
- URL scheme (Mac) — the
freshcards://URL scheme to launch the app with a pre-filled card; building links from other tools. - Services menu (Mac) — right-clicking selected text in any Mac app to send it as a new card.
- What happens when you’re at the free-tier card cap — capture is blocked and an upgrade prompt appears; see Premium.
